When I started Chasing the Promise (CTP) in Fall 2013, it was to give myself a space to express my faith and thoughts on life. My tagline was “one voice. two tones” as I thought it was necessary to separate my spiritual writings from my day to day musings or pieces on justice. Writing, growing, and journeying has taught me that there is sacredness to be explored in the ordinary and Divinity often looked over in our daily lives. Over time I’ve tried to let my work reflect that understanding.
Working towards living an integrated life means that you’ll see evidence of my passions and my professional life weaved into my postings. I’m a faith engaged community organizer, activist, and co-founder of Center for Inclusivity, a non-profit that works to foster inclusive communities through public forums for thoughtful dialogue where people of all faiths, genders, and sexual identities can learn and seek to be fully known. The same heart that draws me to advocate for justice, equity, and compassion for all people is reflected in this space.
My background has lent to me working in religious, social service, and community empowerment contexts in my pre-Chicago life. I have a M.A. in Social Justice and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Psychology, Education, and Pastoral Studies.
You’ll find that I LOVE talking about love here at CTP but note I’m also still random as hell with a deep appreciation for dark chocolate, sour patch kids, Jesus, and shenanigans. I’m fairly sure that will become apparent at some point in your time perusing this blog (or its associated social media pages :D).
All in all, my hope is that regardless of what you hold to be true that you feel a little more loved, encouraged, or supported through reading my words. My prayer is that you understand that you are not alone in this journey.
Hugs & Love!
